Hello Well Traveled Texans!
I always get asked, how did I get into the dynamic world of travel? I was born into it! As an Air Force brat and daughter of travel agency owners I grew up in Europe, and moved to the East coast and Washington, DC area as a teenager. My wanderlust took me to the University of Texas at Austin and I graduated with degrees in Advertising & Radio/Television/Film production (and a handy minor in French), followed by post graduate studies at UCLA’s school of Film & Television. In my 25 year broadcasting career, I had the pleasure of working with legendary journalists like Walter Cronkite and David Brinkley, producing films, network news, commercials and negotiating advertising contracts for some of the biggest events in television. In 2001 I moved from Los Angeles to Houston, married the love of my life, Layne, and continued working for local affiliates of The CW, CBS and NBC, while raising two world-wise daughters, hosting exchange students from France and Germany, and traveling the world.
Like many successful agency owners, my education, experience, and people skills came from a strong business career outside of travel that also provided me the opportunity to see the world and personally experience the destinations we work with clients in discovering every day.
In 2014, I had an idea for a television show to help families discover the real world beyond theme parks – to discover culture in the real world. I left my career in corporate television and started my own production company, CultureLinkMedia, and brought my two daughters into the business to host a half hour travel show with me called, “Kid’s Eye View, Real World, Real Fun” to help families discover incredible destinations like France, Greece, and Malta and America’s National Parks. Our “hosts” are now teenagers and we’re still planning trips for families who grew up discovering the world with us on television.
2016 was a busy year, I opened Well Traveled Texan Travel and hosted travel segments on the Houston NBC affiliate as The Well Traveled Texan. You can still see some of these segments on our website as trip clips to help viewers explore destinations. I completed my Sommelier education, personally hosted small group wine and food trips to France, and opened The French Market, a boutique wine store alongside the travel agency because I love the integration between Travel+ Culture + Wine + Food. They all bring people together to make memories.
It brings me great happiness to help clients explore all the corners of the world. From far, far away to right here in our American backyard. Whether it’s a helicopter wine tour of New Zealand’s Franz Josef Glacier, seeing Scottish clans perform at Edinburgh’s Royal Military Tattoo, exploring Croatia’s islands by private speedboat, checking off your bucket list at the French and US Open or tasting your way through Italy’s swoon-worthy food and wine, that’s what we’re here for – to deliver to you The World, Well Done.
